Amway Corporation is a huge conglomerate
that was founded in 1959 by Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel.
It’s a private company with annual sales of nearly seven
billion dollars. Amway Corporation has separate, but
attached organizations, such as Dexter Yager’s,
International Dreambuilder’s Association, Quixtar, a2k, and
Amivo. Quixtar is the Internet-based branch which operates
Amway’s North American business. Amivo operates in Europe
and a2k in Australia. Amway Corporation was one of the
first multi-level marketing companies.
Amway Corporation markets more than 450
products around the globe. They encourage those who join
them as a seller of their products to build a sales team
that will be supported by the huge company. For many years
Amway Corporation has been accused of being a pyramid
scheme, but it continues happily on its way, selling
billions of dollars of products each year. That fact alone
says that the products are valued by customers who use
them. The charges of being a pyramid scheme have never been
proven in a court of law.
Amway agents are encouraged to sell the
products (cleaners and other products for the home and body)
to friends and relatives. They are also encouraged to
recruit new agents whose sales provide further income to the
recruiting agent. Promoting positive thinking and loyalty
to the Amway Corporation is a big part of the company’s
training effort. The biggest money-makers are the books,
brochures, and tapes that are sold to the agents and
potential agents.
Research has shown that only 19% of the
products are purchased by non-Amway affiliates. The rest is
sold to the agents themselves. The Federal Trade Commission
has required Amway to put labels on all the products stating
that 54% of the agents do not earn anything, and the rest
make an average commission of $65.00 per month. This is a
prediction that does not indicate you will have much
success.
Here is a review, done by David
Alexander, a Canadian, who rates Amway Corporation 1 star on
a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best.
“This organization could make you believe they are the second
coming. Anyone who would believe a word out of any Amway
dealer’s mouth needs to have their head checked. Ask any
Amway distributor to show you a tax return and I bet you
they will give you some excuse. No one in this
distributorship makes money except a handful of people at
the top. The likes of Dexter Yeager and Zack Walters. {sic}
If any of you are considering joining or know of anyone in
Amway, download the free book on the internet called
"merchants of deception" and I'm sure you will reconsider
your decision. My opinion this company is dangerous, because
it is almost like a cult.”
Here is another review, done by Sean,
from Virginia, who rates Amway 5 stars on a scale of 1 to 5,
with 5 being the best.
“Amway, now Quixtar in the U.S. is the best business opportunity out there today and it
has been for years. The initial investment is very small
considering what you will achieve down the road.
You have first hand help when you need it, not just a
package someone sends you in the mail so that you can get
rich in the real estate market or provide help over the
phone at a "small cost".
You don't have to believe me; check it out for yourself.
Don't just search internet sites from people who quit the
business because they were doing something unethical. Search
what the FTC says about Amway-Quixtar. I only wish I would
have seen this years ago!”
One great review and one poor review
for the Amway Corporation, who knows where the truth lies?
This is an honest company. Use your best judgment whether
it is the right one for you.
